We all know Ms Dynamite does a mean high-voltage performance when she touches down on a club stage, but who knew she’d be just as energetic and passionate within the confines of an email interview. Check out our short catch up with UK beat-riding songstress below; admittedly not the most discerning piece of music journalism but her unique use of punctuation sure does get us itching for Friday 4th to come round sooner.
The Nest: 2010 was a mad year for you. What was the catalyst for your bold resurgence in the UK bass music world?
Ms Dynamite: To be honest I was just READY!
TN: You’re in a pretty privileged position to vocal over some of the most important beats in the scene; what attracts you to certain productions?
MD: I can never help but gravitate toward heavy B-lines, rhythmic grooves that MAKE YOU move and AMAZING VIBES on a track!

Ahead of our LOW SLUNG takeover on 5th February, producer/DJ/music fanatic The Dead Rose Music Company, has surpassed all expectations and given The Nest something very special. We asked for an exclusive download to get disco heads in the mood, he offered to produce a brand new track inspired by any tune of our choice. On a hip hop flex, and with some of the best old school breaks known to man, we chose Jeru The Damaja’s “Da Bichez”. TDRMC’s edit needs no introduction; ‘I Have A Surprise for Sophie’, produced exclusively for The Nest, is available here.

With a fast growing support from the likes of Horse Meat Disco, The Magician, Soul Clap and a plethora of indie labels thanks to his insanely popular Soundcloud page, we can’t wait for his set next month. Check out our interview with TDRMC after the jump!
The Nest: You seem to generate an air of mystery regarding your identity as an artist; is this an artistic or practical decision?
TDRMC: Somebody once said to me, “it’s all about the story, people love a story”. That has stuck with me since. It’s both an artistic and practical decision. As an artist I have been involved with music for many years and know a number of people in the industry so I wanted this project to speak for itself and not be coloured by who I know.
From a practical perspective it’s worked out very well and allowed me the creative freedom to pursue whatever musical angle takes my fancy. I have musical ADHD and I feel that when I make tracks it’s almost like there is more than one person in control. I know that sounds a little schizo and that’s why I created Mathias and Sway Co.; Mathias is the italo, boogie, disco lover and Sway Co. is the balls out, jackin’ house lover. I have made tracks in the style of each and as a combined unit. You may want to call the psychiatric ward!
Exit Records will be kicking off February with a boomy bang as they join us at The Nest to celebrate the release of their eagerly awaited Mosaic Volume 1 compilation. With a track list featuring seasoned old boys as well as new school producers of the Exit emporium, it’s only right that we welcome dBridge, Instru:mental, Skream and a whole host of other bass-mongers to take over our Dalston disco.

The Nest has been given a straight up exclusive Skream track free to download. A brand new loop that features on the recent FABRICLIVE: Autonomic CD and has been continually bussin’ up the rave since dBridge reworked it, there’s an interesting story behind this track. Here’s the short version:
Skream makes a two minute loop, sends it to dBridge, it drives him positively wild. Skream loses the project file meaning nobody could master the track so dBridge edits it out to about 4:30s, and drops it like a bomb in his sets, he gives it the fabric treatment and then leaves the unmastered file to gather dust in cyber space.
This track is sure to blow your mind and the MP3 is only available on The Nest blog. Now, don’t say we never give you anything.

Not only are we giving away a massive exclusive Skream track, but we also have a very special competition, giving you the chance to win 2 x Exit Record samplers 12” & 10″, a Gatefold 4 piece vinyl + the double cd version and free entry to the Exit Records party.
What is the name of the Record store, that Skream and Benga are seen in the above photograph?

This upcoming 4th February sees the dancehall diva and UKG queen bee Ms Dynamite explode at our disco for the launch of Stop.Drop.Roll. Leading the pack for a night of unabashed bump and grind beats, spanning just about every mutant strain within the UK bass music spectrum, Ms Dynamite will be joined by a heavyweight roster including Mosca and Jam City.
Ahead of this synth heavy, 808 bumping, sample shifting extravaganza, we decided to raid Dynamite’s back catalogue and knock up a Nest Top 5 to get you in the mood. We’re talking everything from old school garage tear it up tracks to her 2010 funky fresh material. Double time rhymes, ragga flows and slicker than Rick melodies over practically any 4×4 beat worth hearing – we’re looking forward to wiling out with Dy-Na-Mi-Tee next month.
